Brigadier General (US Army, ret.) Richard C. “Rich” Gross is General Counsel/Chief Compliance Officer for Janus Global Operations. In this role, he is responsible for leading corporate strategic, operational, and tactical legal initiatives; providing senior management with effective advice on company strategies and their implementation; managing the legal function; overseeing compliance and risk management activities; and obtaining and overseeing the work of outside counsel.

Prior to joining JGO, General Gross served as a partner at the law firm of FH&H PLLC, which focuses on corporate and business transactions; litigation and investigations; international trade and transactions; government contracts; and employment law. General Gross also has extensive knowledge and experience in national security law and international law.

Prior to joining FH&H, General Gross served over 30 years in the US Army, retiring at the rank of brigadier general. In his final military assignment, he served as the Legal Counsel to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Before that, General Gross had served as the principal legal counsel to US Central Command; the NATO International Security Assistance Force and US Forces-Afghanistan; and the Joint Special Operations Command.

General Gross currently serves on three nonprofit boards: The Independence Fund, which provides tracked wheelchairs for severely wounded veterans plus education and support to their caregivers; Military Community Youth Ministries, which serves the children of military service members; and the After the Impact Fund, which provides support to veterans and professional athletes dealing with traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder.

General Gross received his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the US Military Academy at West Point; his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law; his LLM in Military Law from the US Army Judge Advocate General’s School; and his Master of Strategic Studies from the US Army War College.
